ATLANTIC CITY — Vineland’s own Isiah Pacheco led Super Bowl LVIII in rushing and scored a touchdown in the Kansas City Chiefs’ comeback 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Ariz. on Sunday.
Pacheco’s 76 yards on 15 carries was the sixth most by a rookie in Super Bowl history. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry while scoring a touchdown in the Chiefs’ dramatic victory. His effort topped Hall of Fame legend Tony Dorsett and current San Francisco 49er Deebo Samuels in their rookie Super Bowl performances.
The Vineland native’s impressive rushing effort was credited with neutralizing Philadelphia’s pass rush, which set a record for quarterback sacks this season. Because the Eagles were forced to respect the Chiefs’ running game because of Pacheco, the Eagles did not get a sack all game, a rarity for Philadelphia this season.
Pacheco, a product of youth Vineland Blitz Football, Vineland Midget League, Vineland High School Fighting Clan and Rutgers University, celebrated the victory with Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the rest of his teammates after the game.
Pacheco was honored all over on social media for his solid performance. Pacheco is the second Vineland resident to be a member of a Super Bowl winning team in consecutive years. Jamil Demby was a member of the Los Angeles Rams last year when they won the Super Bowl.
