10 More Ways To Celebrate Juneteenth in South Jersey

Since Juneteenth became first a New Jersey state holiday and then a national holiday celebrating the end of slavery, celebrations and festivals surrounding the occasion and grown dramatically in South Jersey and around the country.
Here are 10 days you can celebrate Juneteenth in Gloucester County and other localities.

- Paulsboro Juneteenth Celebration
This event will take place at the Borough of Paulsboro Municipal Building , 1211 North Delaware Street, on Saturday, June 20 from 4-8 p.m. Councilwoman Kyana Evans said the event will bring together families, residents, local organizations, and businesses for an evening filled with music, culture, entertainment, food, and community engagement. This year’s theme, “Unity in the Community,” focuses on celebrating culture while bringing together people from across the community through fellowship, positivity, and shared experiences. It will feature live music by DJ Jimmy Jam, local performances and entertainment, children’s activities and family-friendly fun, food trucks and local vendors, community resources and information from local organizations and participation from local businesses and community groups. - Gloucester County NAACP Juneteenth Celebration
The Gloucester County National Association of the Advancement of Colored People alongside the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and Monroe Township are holding a free community festival to celebrate Juneteenth. The event is being held at Owen’s Park in Williamstown. Festivities will begin on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 1 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Food vendors will be present and crafts will be available. The Gloucester County NAACP is still accepting applicants for vendors for the celebration.
- Juneteenth Arts Celebration at the Grand Theater
The Grand Theater will be celebrating Juneteenth with their production of “We’ve Got Soul: A Tribute To Soul Train”. It is inspired by Soul Train, a legendary American television series from the early 1970s. The Grand Theater is located at 405 South Main Street, in Williamstown. The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20. Tickets are available online now for $26.50 at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/roadcompany/4291.
- Pennsauken Juneteenth Celebration
On Saturday, June 13, Pennsauken will host the township’s official Juneteenth celebration from noon-3 p.m. at the municipal complex, 2400 Merchantville Avenue. Officials said the festival will be a special event that will honor equality, community and culture.
A true highlight of Pennsauken’s celebration will be the performance of the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, one of the largest professional authentic dance groups in the country.

- Cape May County NAACP Juneteenth Celebration in Whitesboro
The CMC NAACP will host its annual Juneteenth Celebration, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the freedom, resilience, culture, and achievements of African Americans, on Saturday, June 20 from 1-5 p.m. at the MLK Center, Main Street, in Whitesboro. The event will include a community walk, zumba class, live music, food, activities for children along with community fellowship and celebration. The CMC NAAP is still accepting volunteers and vendors for the event.
- Salem County Council of Education Associations’ Juneteenth Celebration
The Salem County Council of Education Associations is hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on Thursday, June 11. It is being held at Sakima Country Club, on 383 Shell Road, Carneys Point from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Attendees will be participating in reflections on freedom movements, the importance of community, the power of joy and collective action. The event is free with registration that can be found on their Google Docs form HERE.
- Freedom Day: Gloucester Township Juneteenth Celebration
Gloucester Township is having their annual Freedom Day celebration of Juneteenth. It is an event focused on unity and the local, cultural marketplace. The event will be held at Veteran’s Park at 1261 Chews Landing Road in Clementon. Beginning at 1 p.m., attendees will have access to different vendors, food, youth activities, music and art. The celebration is open to all ages and will end at 4 p.m.
- Juneteenth at the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey
The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey is hosting a two day celebration honoring Juneteenth. The festivities are being held at 2200 Fairmont Avenue in Atlantic City, inside the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University. The two day long celebration is on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20. Both celebration days will be packed from noon-5 p.m. with different ways to appreciate African American History. Attendees will hear music performances from Tony Day Trio and Eddie Morgan. Additionally, there will be a variety of programming including tributes, speeches, storytelling and prayer. Local artists, Black-owned businesses and Zoagies will be vending.
- Juneteenth Cookout with Ubuntu
Ubuntu the Community is hosting their ninth annual Juneteenth Cookout in partnership with special events of Atlantic City. It will take place on Friday, June 19 from 4-8 p.m. The event is being held at Oscar McClinton Park located at 201 North New Hampshire Avenue in Atlantic City. Guests can enjoy African face painting, games, food and ice cream while supplies last. The event is free and open to people of all ages. Ubuntu is inviting the community to celebrate freedom, honor ancestors and build a collective future.
- Black Joy Lounge: Juneteenth Gallery Party
On Wednesday, June 17, Artworks, Isles and the Trenton Free Public Library is inviting the public to the Black Joy Lounge: Juneteenth Gallery Party. It will be held at the Trenton Free Public Library located at 120 Academy Street in Trenton. Black Joy Lounge: Juneteenth Gallery Party is a two hour event beginning at 5 p.m. The event will be a reflection celebrating Black joy through art, music and poetry. Guests can expect featured performances by musician Jyaire Isaiah Atakora and Ayanna the poet.
