ATLANTIC CITYLt. Gov. Dr. Dale Caldwell will serve as the keynote speaker at Front Runner New Jersey.com’s 30 Under 40 Black and Latino Leaders of South Jersey 5-Year Gala, taking place Thursday, July 30, at Adelphia’s in Deptford, the news website announced.

Caldwell began his tenure as lieutenant governor this year, joining Gov. Mikie Sherrill after their election in November 2025. Before assuming statewide office, he made history as the first Black president of Centenary University. He also serves concurrently as New Jersey’s Secretary of State.

At the gala, Caldwell will address past recipients of FRNJ’s 30 Under 40 Black and Latino Leaders recognition—young professionals who are already making a significant and lasting impact across South Jersey and the state. Honorees represent a wide range of fields, including public service, business, nonprofit leadership, education, and community advocacy.

“Dr. Caldwell is already an inspiration to many of our past awardees,” said Clyde Hughes, founder and editor of Front Runner New Jersey.com. “They are eagerly awaiting his message and look forward to hearing what he has to share with these young game-changers.”

Dr. Caldwell has dedicated his career to serving New Jersey through leadership roles in the public, private, and higher education sectors. He previously served as president of Centenary University; executive director of the Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fairleigh Dickinson University; president of the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey (ESCNJ); deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA); founding executive director of the Newark Alliance; and senior manager at Deloitte Consulting. He also volunteered on the New Brunswick school board for 26 years, including six years as president.

A pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, N.J., Caldwell has built a congregation rooted in inclusivity, community, and acceptance. He is guided by Proverbs 31:8-9, which calls on us to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

P. Kenneth Burns, New Jersey reporter for WHYY Public Radio, will serve as emcee for the evening. Attendees will hear remarks from select awardees and special guests, and honorees will receive commemorative gifts. South Jersey Gas is the event’s Gold Sponsor, with Franklin Bank as Silver Sponsor and Samaritan and Raven’s Reserve as Supporter Sponsors.
