MILLVILLE — Organizers of the Millville Family Night at Captain Joseph Buck Waterfront Park on Friday drew a cross section of residents and several candidates running for office on a beautiful evening.
DJ Barry “Reese” Cephas, from B&B Barbershop kept everything lively while playing oldies and the latest hits. Face painters created distinctive designs on children and adults who brought their own lawn chairs to sit around the park to relax and enjoy fellowship with other attendees and vendors.
Wade Loatman of Bully Pest Management, organized the event and said he hopes to do it on a monthly basis in an effort to support the community.
Candidates running include Yolanda Garcia Balicki, who is running for New Jersey State Senator in Legislative District 1, and her running mate Chris Wilson, who is running for the New Jersey Assembly. Ivelise “Eva” Perez, who is running for Millville City Commissioner, attended with her family.
Others in attendance included Raynard Gross, who is backing Cumberland County Youth Unity Day Aug. 22 at Vineland’s Giampetro Park; Millville City Commissioner Bruce Cooper; and Lamont Jones, owner of Lamont Landscape.
The music, food and entertainment made for a positive, inspiring evening along the Maurice River. Here are some candid pictures of the event, taken by Devonta Rogers.
