MOUNT LAUREL — Patricia Williams’ journey into the grocery industry wasn’t planned but it has become one of the most meaningful chapters of her life.
Today, the Camden native serves as human resource manager at ShopRite of Union Mill in Mount Laurel, a role grounded in mentorship, community connection, and a deep appreciation for the people she serves.
Williams grew up in Camden, where she still proudly resides. She credits her parents — a Bell of Pennsylvania retiree father and a longtime Camden schoolteacher mother — for instilling the values that shaped her life.

“I really won the parent lottery,” she said in her reflections. Their emphasis on education led her to earn a degree in early childhood education, and their example continues to guide her as a mother of five and grandmother of five.
Her path to ShopRite began unexpectedly in 2008. While working overnight as an ad set supervisor at Kohl’s in Cherry Hill, her daughter asked her to accompany her to apply for a job at ShopRite on Route 70.
They both applied and Williams was hired as a part?time cashier by her first mentor, Cynthia Watson?Casey. The opportunity allowed her to leave overnight work behind and step into a new environment where her people?centered nature quickly stood out.
Within a few years, Williams was invited to join the Ravitz Family Markets management team as a closing manager. She embraced the chance to grow, and her leadership continued to shine.
Later, Senior Director of Labor and Relations Ken Brahl approached her about joining the human resources team, a move that would become a defining moment in her career.
“Boy am I happy that I took him up on his offer,” Williams said. “To be part of this amazing Ravitz Family Market organization.”
Her work in HR has allowed her to do what she loves most: connect with people. Williams is energized by learning about employees’ backgrounds, sharing her own experiences, and helping others navigate challenges.
“The community is strengthened when we talk to each other just as people,” she said. “I enjoy laughing with people and being a shoulder to lean on if needed or just listen if they need an ear. My job allows that, and I’m grateful.”
Williams also proudly represents Ravitz Family Markets at community events, including supporting Brahl at a recent Chamber DEI program in June. She said she enjoyed the speakers, the networking, and the chance to continue learning from her mentor.
Beyond the store aisles, Williams champions the company’s commitment to service. Ravitz Family Markets is known for raising money for charities, supporting local organizations, and showing up for the communities surrounding their stores. She said it is work she is proud to help share with others.
Looking ahead, Williams sees her future firmly rooted with the Ravitz organization.
“I see myself retiring with this great company,” she said.
She remains committed to encouraging, educating, and mentoring others whenever the opportunity arises. Williams closed her reflections with gratitude.
Her story is one of family, perseverance, and purpose, a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful careers begin with a simple moment, like accompanying a daughter to fill out a job application.
For Williams, that moment opened the door to a career defined by service, leadership, and community impact.
