MARLTON — When Rhonda Jordan walks into a room, colleagues say she brings both steadiness and spark — the rare combination of a leader who listens deeply and acts decisively.
As executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Virtua Health, this native Texan has spent nearly three decades helping shape one of South Jersey’s most respected health systems into a place where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to grow.
Her journey to the C-suite is a story of resilience, reinvention, and a lifelong belief in the power of people.
A Career Built on People-Centered Leadership
Jordan joined Virtua Health more than 20 years ago, steadily rising through roles that included director, assistant vice president, vice president, and senior vice president of human resources.
Today, she oversees the full spectrum of Virtua’s people strategy — from talent acquisition and leadership development to organizational culture, compensation, and employee well-being.
Her leadership is rooted in a simple but profound philosophy: organizations thrive when their people thrive.
Jordan is certified as a senior HR professional through the Society for Human Resource Management and is known for her ability to identify high-potential leaders, coach executives, and build systems that support long-term workforce success. She is also Six Sigma green belt trained and a master coach certified through the Success Unlimited Network.
Championing Inclusion and the “Culture of WE”
One of Jordan’s most transformative contributions came in 2019, when Virtua Health and Lourdes Health System came together. Jordan led the development of the Culture of WE, a renewed organizational identity focused on belonging, collaboration, and shared purpose.
The initiative expanded into a comprehensive inclusion, diversity, and equity strategy — one that has become a defining feature of Virtua’s workplace environment.
Jordan has spoken openly about the importance of inclusive leadership, crediting Virtua’s CEO, Dennis Pullin, for modeling a culture where every voice matters. She emphasizes that inclusion is not a program but a practice — one that requires intention, humility, and consistency.
A Journey Marked by Courage and Reinvention
Jordan’s path to healthcare leadership was not linear. Early in her career, she envisioned herself rising through the retail industry. But a candid conversation with a supervisor — who told her she would face slower advancement because she was Black — pushed her to rethink her future.
Rather than accept limited possibilities, Jordan pivoted into recruiting and later joined the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where a supportive mentor helped her grow into leadership. That experience shaped her commitment to creating workplaces where bias is confronted and talent is nurtured.
Her story is now a source of inspiration for women across industries, especially women of color navigating spaces where they have historically been underrepresented.
Community Engagement Beyond the Workplace
Jordan’s leadership extends far beyond Virtua’s walls. She serves on the Junior Achievement State Board, contributes to the Center for Ambulatory and Minimally Invasive Surgery, and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., serving on several committees.
Her community work reflects the same values she champions professionally — empowerment, education, and service.
A Leader Helping Shape the Future of South Jersey Healthcare
As Virtua Health continues to grow and evolve, Jordan remains a central architect of its people-first mission. Her work has helped the system stand out in a competitive healthcare talent market, and her influence is felt across every level of the organization.
Colleagues describe her as a leader who brings both heart and strategy — someone who understands that culture is not built through memos, but through relationships, trust, and shared purpose.
For South Jersey’s healthcare community, Jordan represents the kind of leadership that transforms not only workplaces, but lives.
