Dr. Lovell Pugh-Bassett, Dr. Nyeema Watson to be Honored by Camden East NAACP

BLACKWOOD – Dr. Lovell Bassett, president of Camden County College, and Dr. Nyeema Watson, senior vice chancellor for strategy, diversity and community engagement at Rutgers University Camden, will be honored at the NAACP Camden County East 2026 Visionary Awards at The Forum, 109 North Black Horse Pike in Blackwood from 6-10 p.m. on May 15.
Bassett and Watson will be recognized along with Pamela Mack-Brooks, Masjid Freehaven, Dr. Jubril Oyeyemi, Wayne Shareef, and Siomara Wedderburn.
General admission Early Bird tickets, which will be available late April, will cost $135.

Lovell Pugh-Bassett became the sixth president of Camden County College on July 1, 2022. She had previously served as the vice president of Institutional Effectiveness, Advancement, and Strategic Initiatives at the College since 2021.
This marked her return to higher education after 20 years with the New Jersey Department of Education, having served in a number of capacities culminating in the role of Camden County Executive County Superintendent of Schools.
At Rutgers-Camden, Watson oversees efforts to build an inclusive campus community while connecting the resources of the university with communities in Camden and across southern New Jersey.
Working with students, faculty, and staff, Watson leads campus efforts to establish diversity, equity, and inclusion as key institutional values in recruitment, retention, the curriculum, and civic and community engagement.
Under her leadership in this area, Rutgers University–Camden has become nationally recognized as a leader in the field of civic engagement by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
