Camden’s Jonathan Young Named President of NJ Association of Counties

TRENTON — The New Jersey Association of Counties announced this week the swearing-in of Camden County Commissioner Jonathan L. Young as the association’s 82nd president on Friday in the Senate Chambers of the State House.
Also included in the swearing in were: Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren as 1st Vice President, Somerset County Commissioner Shanel Y. Robinson as 2nd Vice President, Warren County Commissioner James R. Kern III as Secretary/Treasurer, and Monmouth County Administrator Teri O’Connor as Immediate Past President.
“I look forward to leading this outstanding organization in 2023 as we continue advocating for county governments across the State with a unified, proactive, and solution driven approach to solving critical issues,” Young said in a statement.
Following the reorganization meeting, guests are welcome to join NJAC for a luncheon celebration at the historic Masonic Temple.
“As county governments are playing a vital and growing role in protecting the public health, safety, and welfare of residents across the Garden State, I commend NJAC’s executive officers and board of directors for their leadership, vision, and commitment as dedicated public servants,” Young said.
Young has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters since 1996. He serves as a Council Representative with the Eastern Atlantic State Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS) Mullica Township Team Room/Local 255 and just began his second term as Camden County Commissioner.
During Young’s first term in office he was assigned to oversee the Department of Public Safety one of Camden County’s largest departments including 911 Communications and the Office of Emergency Management.
He also serves as liaison to the Department of Corrections, the Juvenile Detention Center, the Camden County One-Stop Career Center and Camden County’s Workforce Development Board, Department of Sustainability, and the Camden County Animal Shelter (Homeward Bound).
