BRIDGETONLuz Vasquez became one of the highest-ranking Latinas in Cumberland County government last month when she was appointed deputy administrator for the county government.

Vasquez, a long-time government executive, nonprofit leader and local Republican parity leader, becomes the first Hispanic to ever serve in the position when she was appointed Jan. 6 by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.

Highlighting the great culture and leadership in South Jersey’s Hispanic community.

“It is an honor to be the first Hispanic deputy business administrator in Cumberland County,” Vasquez told Front Runner La Prensa. “I am part of a team that is committed to transparency and accountability in our county government and excellent customer service. It is exciting to be part of needed change in our county.”

In her job, she manages the day-to-day operations of county business that includes employee relations, budgets, public information matters, crisis management, events, contract negotiations, resolve constituent concerns and advance directives from the county commissioners.

Before her new job, Vasquez served as executive director of the Hope Pregnancy Care Center, Options for Women in Cherry Hill.

She had served as a government administrator for the State of New Jersey from 2017-2020 where she managed and supervised professional staff and managed a federal grant program.

She also served as an executive director of for a program in the State of Delaware on 2015-2017 in New Castle County, Del. There she managed federal and state grants, supervised a statewide team, developed and managed budget, advocate for programs to assist local communities and volunteer management.
